Advocacy Family Inclusion

One family's fight became a movement.

LUNA Unite was born in an IEP meeting, in a moment of realizing that no family should have to navigate this alone. We turned our story into a resource — so yours can have a different ending.

Three stories at the heart of everything

LUNA Unite exists because of three things: a little girl's art, a mother who refused to give up, and a boy named Jack who deserved better. Start wherever feels right.

Born from advocacy, love, and a refusal to quit

I didn't set out to start a nonprofit. I set out to get my son what he needed. What I found along the way — in the waiting rooms, the IEP meetings, the late-night research spirals — was that I wasn't alone. And neither are you.

LUNA Unite grew out of years of learning the language of special education advocacy. The acronyms, the legal rights, the way to walk into a meeting and not feel like the smallest person in the room. I learned it all the hard way — so you don't have to.

From One Family to Many

What started as me sharing what I learned with one neighbor became ten families. Ten became a community. And somewhere in the middle of it all, my daughter Luna picked up a paintbrush — and gave us our name, our symbol, and our reason to keep going.

"I used to walk into IEP meetings feeling like an outsider in my own child's life. Now I walk in knowing my rights — and I want every parent to feel that way."

— Jenna, Founder of LUNA Unite

The boy who taught us everything

Jack came into our family through adoption, bringing with him a history, a spark, and a set of needs the school system wasn't sure how to meet. He was bright, creative, curious — and completely underserved.

Getting Jack what he deserved took years. It took learning words like FAPE, LRE, and Prior Written Notice. It took showing up to meetings armed with documentation instead of just hope. And it took refusing to accept "this is the best we can do" as an answer.

The Beginning
First IEP meeting. Overwhelmed, underprepared, and unsure what we were signing.
The Turning Point
We learned our rights under IDEA. Everything changed the moment we walked in knowing what to ask for.
Where We Are Now
Jack has a team that sees him. He's thriving — and his story is helping other families find their footing.

Luna paints what inclusion looks like

Luna is Jenna's daughter, and she is the reason this organization has a name, a symbol, and a soul. She paints with a wildness and a joy that only a child can — and every piece is a reminder of what we're fighting for.

Luna's art isn't a product. It's a statement. Her paintings hang in homes across the country as proof that when you fight for a child's right to be seen, extraordinary things happen.

"Every painting Luna makes is a reminder that no kid gets to be our next story. They get to be their own."

"Before I found LUNA Unite, I sat through three IEP meetings not understanding half of what was being said. After one conversation with Jenna, I walked into the next one knowing exactly what to ask for — and my daughter got the support she'd needed all along."

— Springfield Parent, LUNA Unite Family
